Bookkeeping for Labrador businesses
Labrador runs along the Broadwater between Southport and Runaway Bay, and its business base is unpretentious and varied. The Brisbane Road strip carries retail, food, automotive and service businesses. The waterfront side supports marine trades, boat services and charter operators. Behind both sit a large number of small operators, trades and family businesses that have been working the area for a long time.
These are mostly businesses without an administrator. The owner does the quoting, the work, the invoicing and eventually the books, in that order of priority. Our job is to remove the last one from the list entirely, and to make sure the BAS is right without the owner needing to supervise it.
Why Labrador businesses choose us
Made for owner-operated businesses
No reporting pack you will not read. Receipts captured on your phone, bank feeds coded weekly, and a BAS prepared and sent for your sign-off before it is due.
Honest about what you can claim
Vehicle, tools, phone, home office. We apportion properly and keep the records that support it, rather than claiming everything and hoping nobody checks.
Fixed monthly fee
$347 or $650 a month, agreed before we start. No hourly billing and no invoice you were not expecting.

BAS lodgement for Labrador businesses
Most Labrador businesses lodge quarterly. Lodging electronically through a registered BAS agent gives you the concessional dates below rather than the standard ones — roughly four extra weeks on three of the four quarters.
| Quarter | Standard due date | Lodged through a BAS agent |
|---|---|---|
| Q1 — July to September | 28 October | 25 November |
| Q2 — October to December | 28 February | 28 February (no extension) |
| Q3 — January to March | 28 April | 26 May |
| Q4 — April to June | 28 July | 25 August |
For a small business the concession is simply time — enough of it to find the receipts you know exist rather than lodging a figure you will have to amend later.
If you lodge monthly, the activity statement is due on the 21st of the following month. The December statement is the exception — businesses under $10 million turnover reporting GST monthly through an agent have until 21 February.
We do not lodge on the last afternoon. Your figures are finalised and sent to you for sign-off with time to query anything before it goes to the ATO.
Marine trades and Broadwater businesses
Boat servicing, rigging, marine electrical, detailing, charter and brokerage along the Broadwater side of the suburb. Parts and materials recharged to customers, jobs that run across quarters, and deposits taken before work starts all need handling correctly — a deposit is income in advance, not revenue on the day it lands.
Where parts are imported, the GST is claimed on the customs documentation rather than the supplier invoice, which is a regular correction in files we take over.
Trades and service businesses
The builders, plumbers, electricians, mechanics and landscapers working out of Labrador and the surrounding northern suburbs. Job-level costing so you know which work is worth taking, contractor payments coded with ABNs for the TPAR due 28 August, and vehicle and tool expenses claimed properly with the records to back them.
For a sole trader the single biggest practical improvement is usually invoicing from the phone on site. Invoices raised on the day get paid sooner, and the file stays current without anyone doing data entry in the evening.
Retail, food and automotive along Brisbane Road
The shops, takeaways, workshops and service businesses along the Brisbane Road strip. Daily takings reconciliation, POS connected to Xero, supplier accounts coded usefully, and award payroll across a small roster. For food businesses, the GST-free and taxable split matters — basic food is generally GST-free, prepared and hot food generally is not, and the POS should capture the difference at the till.
Onsite bookkeeping in Labrador
We visit clients along the Brisbane Road strip, the Broadwater marine businesses, the Harley Park and Frank Street surrounds, and site-based and home-based trades across the suburb.
For an owner-operator, a single onsite visit to sort out the paperwork once and set up a system that stops it rebuilding is usually the highest-value hour of the engagement.
Payroll, Single Touch Payroll and payday super
Small-team payroll, award interpretation, casual and junior rates, leave accruals, terminations and Single Touch Payroll reporting every pay run.
Since 1 July 2026, payday super requires super contributions to reach each employee’s fund within seven business days of payday rather than quarterly. If you have recently taken on your first employee, this is one of the easiest things to get wrong at the outset and much easier to set up correctly than to unwind later.
Catch-up bookkeeping and overdue BAS
Family businesses and sole traders fall behind because the work comes first. It is common, it is fixable, and it is quoted as a fixed price.
We bring the file current, lodge the outstanding statements in the right order, and where there is a genuine reason for the delay we can approach the ATO about a payment arrangement or a remission of penalties on your behalf. Catch-up work is quoted as a fixed price once we have looked at the file, so you know what getting clean costs before you commit to it.
Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks
We work in Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks, with Hubdoc for receipt capture so paperwork is photographed once and filed automatically. If you are still running the business out of a spreadsheet and a shoebox, we will get you set up on software properly, migrate the history, and train you on the bits you actually need to touch.
